Let’s face it, the U.S. economy is in shambles. FDIC Insured doesn’t give us the same sense of security that it used to. Many older Americans have gone back to hiding money in mattresses because they believe it is safer there than in a financial institution. We can no longer bank on our 401K’s or Social Security in our retirement years. Unfortunately, there are not many things that will guarantee our investments will be safe. The outlook seems bleak.
But, there is hope. We have an assurance, from Christ, through the Holy Spirit that we will receive the reward of eternal life. The Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee of what will soon come to pass. “Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” 2 Corinthians 5:5. The Holy Spirit is like a down payment from the Father in heaven. And, since God is not a man that He should lie, we can be sure that he will not default, but will make good on His promise to us.
The Holy Spirit seals us until the day of redemption, guarantees that salvation is ours now, and that we will receive much more when Jesus returns. All of the power and comfort that the Holy Spirit provides us will pale in comparison to what is in store for us. Now that is a guarantee!!!
