My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk to me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
Psalm 27:8
As we continue to delve into the characteristics of a praying woman the following question come to mind:
What must I do to experience an intimate relationship with God?
God promised us that if we draw close to Him, He will draw close to us. (James 4:8) We have to talk to God, consistently everyday. As with any sound relationship, there should be a great deal of communication with God. God also requires that we worship Him only. Our worship should not be reserved for Sunday mornings or only when we are inside the four walls of the church. Exodus 34:14 tells us that, You must worship no other gods, but only the Lord, for He is a God who is passionate about His relationship with you.
God desires intimacy even more than we, that is why He created us. Love is a requirement for true intimacy. Jesus tells us, as recorded in Matthew 22:37, “…You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” Our love for God can not be conditional, it must be complete. We have to be sold out for Him, after all, He gave us His precious son Jesus. Our obedience is necessary for intimacy with God. According to Acts 5:32, God’s presence, evident through the Holy Spirit, comes in our lives when we obey Him.
Jesus made it possible for us to have an intimate friendship with God.
Now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God-all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us in making us friends of God. Romans 5:11
Ponder the following and share your thoughts. How has your relationship with God changed? Do you desire more or do you feel apprehensive about what a more intimate relationship with Him requires?
