Because He Said So

On our trip home from school each day, I ask my son about his day. I specifically ask what happened at school and what lessons he learned during the day. One day in particular my son told me one of his classmate’s had a birthday and he was now thirteen.
“Thirteen?” I said.
“TJ you are in kindergarten.”
The teacher in me decides it is time for a logic lesson. I began by asking,
“How old are you, TJ?”
“Six,” he said.
“Ok, does it make sense that one of your classmates would be 13 when you are six?”
He replied, “No, but he said he was 13.”
“Well, he was lying, TJ,” I responded.
“Nah ah” he replied.
This logic lesson with my son was not going the way I planned. My son insisted his classmate was 13 and was not lying to him and I, his own mother ,just did not know what I was talking about. I wasn’t about to give up the chance for my son to learn this lesson, so I thought I’ll give him an example he just can’t deny, then he will see that this kid is pulling his leg. I said to him,
“TJ you see me, right.”
“Yes,” he responded.
I then asked, “What color am I?”
“Brown, ” he said.
“Well, if I said I was green would you believe me?” I asked.
“Yes,” he said.
I then replied with unbelief, “Even though you are looking at me and see that I am not green, you would still believe me?”
Awaiting his answer, I thought, certainly I have made my point and he will realize that his classmate told him a lie.
He said, “Yes.”
Feeling flustered, I said, “Why?”
His reply was, “Because you said so.”
Immediately the term “childlike faith” came to mind. We should have this outlook when faced with the issues and circumstances of life. What did God say? “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” Romans 8:37 “For we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
Regardless of what our physical eyes or surroundings or circumstances tell us, remember what God said. Believe it and don’t be swayed or changed by any naysayers or distractions that may come. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 Know that because He (God) said so, it is so.

Wow, how encouraging. “…and a child shall lead them.” Isaiah 11:6
It’s amazing how much we learn about God thru our children…
So true. I have learned so many lessons on God’s love and mercy through them.
