“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a real blessing.” Psalm 127:3 GNT
Children are not a burden but a blessing. They are not a curse, but a gift from the Lord. However, children are not born into obedience. They must be taught to obey. They are not born possessing the knowledge they need to live successfully. They must be trained. Children can’t train themselves. Therefore, as a parent, you have to train your children. You are responsible for investing in them and building them up. Your children are predestined to leave home. It’s your job to prepare them. It’s your job to get them ready for the future.
“Since your kids will very likely turn out to be just like you, make sure you live like the kind of person you want them to be.”~ Myles Munroe
Children hear with their eyes when it comes to parenting. In other words, they are watching what you do rather than hearing what you say. So that old saying, “Do as I say and not as I do.” is parenting suicide. Children learn how to be parents themselves by watching you. So make sure you’re a godly parent. Be the parent you want them to be.
“Teach children how they should live, and they will remember it all their life.” Proverbs 22:6 GNT
Children should learn everything about how to live their life, discover their vision, and fulfill their dreams from their parents and their examples. You can’t put this responsibility on the schools, teachers, daycares, or churches. This is what you have been assigned to do. If you fail to do so, the world has a family for them – gangs, streets, prison, etc. If children can’t find the right answers from you, they’ll find the wrong answers from somewhere else.
“The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise.” Proverbs 23:24 NLT
When your children live their lives according God and His Word and He is the center of everything they do, that’s a reason to celebrate!
